97% of Mozila’s revenue comes from the search engines
I have recently checked Mozilla’s financial statement for the year 2008, I was surprised to find out the 97% of it’s revenue has resulted from contracts with Google, Yahoo, Amazon, eBay and others. With Google contributing to 91% of it’s revenue. Nevertheless, the relations between both companies don’t appear to be at their best. Recently, Asa Dotzler, Mozilla’s director of community development has recently provided a link for people to download Bing as an add-on to Firefox. In an entry of his blog, Dotzler said :”Here’s how you can easily switch Firefox’s search from Google to Bing”. This has been a result of the concerns over the privacy of users with the Google Search engine which were recently aroused by Eric Schmidt answer to the question in this video.
